{"id":799,"date":"2024-07-29T14:12:30","date_gmt":"2024-07-29T14:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ocean.edu\/?page_id=799"},"modified":"2024-12-06T21:36:50","modified_gmt":"2024-12-06T21:36:50","slug":"alternative-financial-aid-for-nj-dreamers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ocean.edu\/how-to-pay\/financial-aid-scholarships\/types-of-financial-aid\/alternative-financial-aid-for-nj-dreamers\/","title":{"rendered":"Alternative Financial Aid for NJ Dreamers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"alignwide has-text-align-wide is-style-intro\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-right:0;margin-bottom:0;margin-left:0;padding-top:0;padding-right:0;padding-bottom:0;padding-left:0\">New Jersey provides state financial aid assistance, such as NJ TAG grants, NJ EOF grants, NJ Governor\u2019s Urban Scholarship, NJ Community College Opportunity Grant, and the NJ S.T.A.R.S. scholarship program for eligible students that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"padding-top:0;padding-right:0;padding-bottom:0;padding-left:0\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Attended a New Jersey high school for at least three (3) years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graduated from a New Jersey high school or obtained its equivalent under New Jersey law<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are registered for selective service (males only)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can sign an affidavit stating that you will file an application to legalize your immigration status or will file an application as soon as you are eligible to do so<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-2 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;padding-top:0\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Students that meet the criteria at the top of this page and are not eligible to fill out a FAFSA application can apply for state aid using the NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application. Please follow these steps to apply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hesaa.org\/Pages\/NJAlternativeApplication.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Apply<\/a>&nbsp;online<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply for admissions to Ocean County College and follow all steps in your admissions acceptance letter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit proof you have attended a New Jersey high school for at least three (3) years (such as a high school transcript) to Ocean County College<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit proof you have graduated from a New Jersey high school (such as a final high school transcript which shows your date of graduation) or its equivalent (such as a GED certificate) to Ocean County College<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Males must register for Selective Service at www.sss.gov<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nextgensso2.com\/sp\/startSSO.ping?PartnerIdpId=http:\/\/sts.ocean.edu\/adfs\/services\/trust&amp;SpSessionAuthnAdapterId=oceanDF&amp;TargetResource=https:\/\/dynamicforms.ngwebsolutions.com\/Submit\/Form\/Start\/23cedc43-79d6-4926-af63-12c08d74b9dc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Jersey Dreamers Grant Recipient Affidavit<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select \u201cLogin to NJ FAMS\u201d on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hesaa.org\/Pages\/NJAlternativeApplication.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Financial Aid Resources for New Jersey Dreamers<\/a>&nbsp;page, create an account, log in, and see if NJ HESAA (Higher Education Student Assistance Authority) is requesting any additional information.
