{"id":735,"date":"2024-09-19T17:33:06","date_gmt":"2024-09-19T17:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ocean.edu\/?page_id=735"},"modified":"2025-04-18T10:20:15","modified_gmt":"2025-04-18T14:20:15","slug":"career-mobility-nursing-program-admission","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ocean.edu\/programs-courses\/school-of-nursing-and-health-sciences\/career-mobility-nursing-program-admission\/","title":{"rendered":"Career Mobility Nursing Program Admission"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Career Mobility Program is a pathway for licensed LPN\u2019s to enter the Ocean County College Associate in Applied Science Nursing program, which leads to RN licensure. Qualified LPN\u2019s can test out of the first 9 credit nursing course &#8211; NURS 175 Nursing I &#8211; thus skipping a semester of coursework and all associated costs including tuition. Successful completion of the test will allow the LPN to begin in Nursing II, shortening the program to 3 semesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested students should contact Registration and Records at 732-255-0400 x2014 to make sure all requirements have been met. If they have, contact Nursing via email to advorak@ocean.edu for the next steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a student was in the program previously and failed Nursing I, they cannot test out and must come back through Traditional or On Site Online beginning with Nursing I.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The requirements to pursue the Career Mobility program include <strong><u>all<\/u> <\/strong>traditional nursing program entrance requirements*(see below), <strong><u>plus<\/u><\/strong>, the Career Mobility applicant must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved practical nursing program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in New Jersey<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be employed as an LPN currently and for at least the last 6 months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pay a $1000 Credit-by-Exam fee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be prepared to take and pass the Challenge exam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>*Traditional Nursing program entrance requirements include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>High school diploma or GED. Official transcripts must be provided.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Completion of all nursing general education requirements as listed below, with a minimum grade of C and a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 or higher. All previous colleges are considered in this gpa.
