The Accuplacer Placement Tests for English and Mathematics are still available for any students who choose to take them. These tests may be helpful if you have been out of school for some time or if you\u2019re just not sure what your skill levels are for English and\/or math.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>For more information about enrolling\u00a0without testing visit our\u00a0Self-Guided Placement<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>page. Schedule your on-campus or remote Accuplacer Placement test\u00a0online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planning to Take Pre-Calculus or Calculus?
<\/strong>In order to enroll in any of the advanced-level math courses, like Pre-Calculus or Calculus, students must either submit their high school transcripts to the Registrar\u2019s office for review at  registrar@ocean.edu<\/a> or, if you do not have the necessary grades and\/or courses, you will need to take the Accuplacer Next Generation  AAF Test for Pre-Calculus\/Calculus.<\/strong> You may schedule your on-campus or remote AAF test for Pre-Calculus\/Calculus online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are plenty of FREE practice and tutorial apps and websites to help prepare you for your test(s).  Here are some of the best:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Accuplacer Web-based study app<\/strong><\/a>:\u00a0 You can use this app anywhere, \u00a0it works on your phone, computer, or tablet!\u00a0 The app features practice tests for the math\u2013Next-Generation Quantitative Analysis and Statistics (QAS), Reading, Writing and Next Generation Advanced Algebra Functions (AAF) Pre-Calculus\/Calculus.\u00a0 These practice tests have the same types of questions that are on the tests. The \u201cLearn As You Go\u201d feature provides immediate feedback about right\/wrong answers with tutorials to help you learn how to get the right answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The College Board\/Accuplacer Practice<\/strong><\/a>:\u00a0 Free sample questions to download and practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue OWL\/\/Purdue Writing Lab<\/a>:<\/strong>\u00a0This online writing lab (OWL) at Purdue University provides free writing resources and instructional material to help you craft your best college-level essay for the Accuplacer Writeplacer test used for OCC English placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Free Accuplacer Practice Tests<\/strong><\/a>: This site uses actual sample Accuplacer questions to help you see how prepared you are for the actual exam. Sponsored by Kaplan and updated for 2021.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Here are a couple of great test-taking tips that will certainly help you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. DON\u2019T RUSH!  There\u2019s only one part of the Placement Test that\u2019s timed:  The Writeplacer Essay. You\u2019ll have 50 minutes to write a well-organized, well-developed, grammatically correct, properly spelled, and punctuated essay on the computer without the use of Spell Check. You\u2019ll have paper and a pencil to jot down your thoughts, so you\u2019ll have plenty of time. All other sections of the test are multiple-choice, with no time limit, so TAKE YOUR TIME!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Practice, practice, practice!  The Placement Tests measure your skills, and if you don\u2019t use them, you do lose them. The more you practice, the better you\u2019ll do.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    You can get your scores from the Student Portal tab located at the bottom right corner on the\u00a0Accuplacer Welcome Page<\/a>.\u00a0 Fill-in the requested information, including your OCC Student ID Number, to request an email copy of your score report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
