{"id":1059,"date":"2024-09-18T14:20:34","date_gmt":"2024-09-18T14:20:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ocean.edu\/?page_id=1059"},"modified":"2024-11-19T20:16:26","modified_gmt":"2024-11-19T20:16:26","slug":"high-school-equivalency-assessment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ocean.edu\/student-resources\/testing-center\/high-school-equivalency-assessment\/","title":{"rendered":"High School Equivalency Assessment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"alignwide has-text-align-wide is-style-intro\">For information regarding GED Prep classes, contact the Workforce and Professional Education (WPE) Department at 732.255.0400 x2350 or go to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocean.edu\/programs-courses\/career-training\/ocean-county-achievement-center\/\" title=\"Ocean County Achievement Center\">Ocean County Achievement Center<\/a>&nbsp;pages to complete the necessary forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE GED TEST<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Effective June 1, 2023, the only High School Equivalency Assessment offered in New Jersey is the GED<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>&nbsp;through PearsonVUE.&nbsp; If you have already taken and passed any TASC or HiSET test sections, you can complete your test with GED<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The OCC Testing Center will begin on-site GED testing as of Wednesday, August 9, 2023.&nbsp; Please go to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ged.com\/en-ca\/about_test\/scheduling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">GED&nbsp;<\/a>website to schedule and pay for your tests on our campus.&nbsp; On-site testing hours will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to Noon and from 1:00 PM to 4:15 PM.&nbsp; Separate appointments for each section\/subject will be required; we cannot administer all four sections on a single day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ged.com\/take-the-ged-test-online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Remote GED testing<\/a>&nbsp;is still available, or you can&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ged.com\/about_test\/scheduling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">find an alternate testing site<\/a>&nbsp;if you need to schedule any other time or if our center is full.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GED<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>&nbsp;test has four sections, available in both English and Spanish:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mathematical Reasoning: 115 minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reasoning Through Language Arts:&nbsp; 150 minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social Studies:&nbsp; 70 minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Science:&nbsp; 90 minutes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ged.com\/policies\/new_jersey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">New Jersey GED web page<\/a>&nbsp;for more information about the test and the TWO forms of ID required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For GED<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>&nbsp;testing,&nbsp;<strong>all appointments will still need to be made through the&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ged.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>GED<\/strong>&nbsp;website<\/a><strong>.<\/strong>&nbsp; Separate appointments for each section will be available; we cannot administer all four sections on a single day.&nbsp;<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please note:&nbsp; If you opt to test in Spanish, you must take ALL test sections in Spanish; you cannot mix and match languages.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GED<\/strong><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><strong>&nbsp;Test Candidates Under the Age of 18:&nbsp; You Need this form \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.gov\/education\/adulted\/pathways\/forms\/ConsentParticipate.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>Consent to Participate<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those candidates who are 16 or 17 years old, the GED<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>&nbsp;registration procedure includes the completion of a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.gov\/education\/adulted\/pathways\/forms\/ConsentParticipate.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Consent to Participate<\/a>&nbsp;form.&nbsp; This form is required for both in-person and remote testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, set up your GED<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>&nbsp;profile\/account. Testing appointments for those who are 16 or 17 years old cannot be scheduled until the GED<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>&nbsp;profile\/account is set up AND the vendor has received the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.gov\/education\/adulted\/pathways\/forms\/ConsentParticipate.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Consent to Participate<\/a>&nbsp;form from us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, complete the required&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.gov\/education\/adulted\/pathways\/forms\/ConsentParticipate.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Consent to Participate<\/a>&nbsp;form, have it notarized, and bring the notarized form to the Testing Center for in-person completion; or, without notarization, both the parent\/guardian and the test candidate, together, may bring the completed&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.gov\/education\/adulted\/pathways\/forms\/ConsentParticipate.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Consent to Participate<\/a>&nbsp;form to the Testing Center.
